Kenneth Cole Reaction Men’s KC1428 Analog Quartz Multi-Function Polyurethane Strap Watch

May 10th, 2011

The Reaction from Kenneth Cole sports a stylish Knight Rider look that’s both modern and retro. This striking black timepiece features a polished ion-plated stainless steel construction, including a 42-millimeter case and crown, and a textured polyurethane strap with a stainless steel buckle. The luminous silver-tone hands and indexes stand out against the black dial and museum bezel. Two sub-dials at the three and nine o’clock display the day and date of the week. Powered by Japanese-quartz movement, and featuring three-hand movement, this watch is water resistant to 165 feet.
Band: Black textured polyurethane strap with a stainless steel buckle Case/Dial: Polished ion plated stainless steel case, Black dial with two subdials Quartz movement, Multi-function, Silver-tone luminous hands, Silver-tone indices on black museum bezel, Polished stainless steel case and crown, Stainless steel caseback, Two subdials for day and date of week, Water resistant 50m Mineral crystal Watch width: 4.20 cm. Watch depth: 1.00 cm. The best thing about this watch is it is very thin for this style watch. If you compare it to other brands Kenneth KC1428 of multi-dial sport watches you will find they are all very thick and bulky. This is an excellent watch to wear everyday for the office and it fashionable enough to go with formal ware. The Polyurethane Strap is wide with a decent size buckle that does not look like a typical sport watch band. The watch body and buckle have a high quality chrome finish to accent the black face with white/red hands and chrome numbering. The small dials are a bit too small to read unless you have super vision. That is typical of this type of watch having multiple dials. The Kenneth Cole Reaction only includes 2 dials for day of the week (Mon – Sun) and Day of the month so it is a very clean look and it is pretty easy to set the date and time. It has a unique design that is not the first brand most people think of in watches, so you are not likely to see someone else in your office wearing this same watch. And as the previous reviewer pointed out; This is an expensive looking but very inexpensive priced watch.
Really The title says it all. I took a long time selecting this watch because the aesthetic features and size were perfect for my style and smaller wrists. I would have gladly given this watch a four or five star rating if the polyurethane strap on this watch did not have such a strong rubber smell. I am hoping the smell will fade but if not I will have to factor in another 20 or thirty for a high quality Italian rubber strap which has a much more pleasant smell.

Casio Men’s GD100MS-1 XL Series By G-Shock Classic Digital Black Watch

May 10th, 2011

With the launch of its first watch in November 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field confident that it could develop timepieces that would lead the market.

In developing its own wristwatches Casio began with the basic question, “”What is a wristwatch?”" Rather than simply making a digital version of the conventional mechanical watch, we thought that the ideal wristwatch should be something that shows all facets of time in a consistent way. Based on this, Casio was able to create a watch that displayed the precise time including the second, minute, hour, day, and month — not to mention a.m. or p.m., and the day of the week. It was the first watch in the world with a digital automatic calendar function that eliminated the need to reset the calendar due the variation in month length. Rather than using a conventional watch face and hands, a digital liquid crystal display was adopted to better show all the information. This culminated in the 1974 launch of the CASIOTRON, the world’s first digital watch with automatic calendar. The CASIOTRON won acclaim as a groundbreaking product that represented a complete departure from the conventional wristwatch.

Casio transformed the concept of the watch — from a mere timepiece to an information device for the wrist — and undertook product planning based on this innovative idea. We developed not only time functions such as global time zone watches, but also other radical new functions using Casio’s own digital technology, including calculator and dictionary functions, as well as a phonebook feature based on memory technology, and even a thermometer function using a built-in sensor. The memory-function watches became our DATA BANK product series, while the sensor watches developed into two unique Casio product lines of today: the Pathfinder series displaying altitude, atmospheric pressure, and compass readings.

In 1983, Casio launched the shock-resistant G-SHOCK watch. This product shattered the notion that a watch is a fragile piece of jewelry that needs to be handled with care, and was the result of Casio engineers taking on the challenge of creating the world’s toughest watch. Using a triple-protection design for the parts, module, and case, the G-SHOCK offered a radical new type of watch that was unaffected by strong impacts or shaking. Its practicality was immediately recognized, and its unique look, which embodied its functionality, became wildly popular, resulting in explosive sales in the early 1990s. The G-SHOCK soon adopted various new sensors, solar-powered radio-controlled technology (described below), and new materials for even better durability. By always employing the latest technology, and continuing to transcend conventional thinking about the watch, the G-SHOCK brand has become Casio’s flagship timepiece product.

Today, Casio is focusing its efforts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches: the built-in solar battery eliminates the nuisance of replacing batteries, and the radio-controlled function means users never have to reset the time. In particular, the Casio GD100MS-1 radio-controlled function represents a revolution in time-keeping technology similar to the impact created when mechanical watches gave way to quartz technology. Through the further development of high radio-wave sensitivity, miniaturization, and improved energy efficiency, Casio continues to produce a whole range of radio-controlled models.

Kenneth Cole New York Men’s KC1518 Sport Collection Black Leather Strap Watch

May 10th, 2011

I really like this watch. It has a lot of great features, but there is no doubt that it is difficult to see! I have it set so that the backlight will go on when I turn my wrist, but it does not work for me all the time. I am sure that the fault is mine, that I do not have it held at the correct angle, but as of yet I have not figured out what I am doing wrong. I have a number of Casio watches, and I do like this one, but some of the other I have, while they are not atomic and solar, are easier to see. Nice watch, very comfortable to wear. However, the solar power feature sucks! I have left the watch on my window sill for the entire weekend and the charge has never gone past medium. It is supposed to charge off of fluorescent light, but it has died on me twice while at work (and yes I had it uncovered from underneath my sleeve). I would rather have a watch with a battery versus have a watch that I will never know when it is going to die! When I found this watch, I was happy with everything but the screws on the face. As you’ve probably already read here, they serve no purpose beyond aesthetics. I didn’t like the look, but it was out weighed by the other watch features. I’m surprised that I’m the only one to experience this, given that the watch is marketed as rugged, but I’ve lost two of the screws out of the face within one month (I posted a photo). The screws were lost during a sailing race, no doubt caught by something shearing across the face of the watch. I don’t mind the new look as now they look like sensor ports rather than fluff. I may take the others out :) . Kenneth KC1518 I totally agree with others that have stated difficulty in reading the negative display in certain light, but it’s managable.

Pros: atomic time keeping is the only way to go when seconds matter. I love the fact that the watch syncs to atomic time every night which can be confirmed with a single button push. I’m still evaluating the tide function, but so far so good. The moon phase is a very nice feature, if you care about that sort of thing. Solar charging is a must have. No more suunto battery replacement every year. It’s comfortable and looks good (screws notwithstanding). I’m very happy with my purchase in spite of it “falling apart”.

GUESS Status In-the-Round Watch

May 10th, 2011

I have owned two of the Ironman watches and i must say that both are very good. The rubber strap is very comfortable and is rather light weight. The watch has all the needed modes (ie: stopwatch, timer, alarm) and each works easily with little complication. The watch is very easy to read with the time, date and day along with any modes running in the back round. I have also taken this watch scuba diving at 80 feet with no problem, and is fully waterproof. The night light works nicely, but late at night due to the green glow your eyes may GUESS U11622L4 take a second to adjust enough to read it. The only real problem i have found owning this watch is the “mode” button on the bottom left is in a spot that if the watch is at your wrist and you move your wrist up it may push this button. So when you look at the time you are in the timer or stopwatch mode instead. Neither of these two downsides are nearly large enough to not own this watch though.
I ordered a Timex Indiglo watch to replace the one that I had bought in 2004 for my elderly father – he’s 97. The prior one stopped working and battery replacement would not get it going. I had the new one shipped directly to him. While the time function of the watch works, the Ingiglo feature did not! No matter what we tried we could not get the dial to light up when we depressed the appropriate button. I was willing to go through the hassle of returning that one and getting another for him but he declined saying he would keep that faulty one. I was very disappointed as this is the fourth Indiglo that we have gotten for him over a 22 year period – all have worked properly except this one.
This is an excellent watch with intuitive buttons and functions. It is the third like it I’ve owned; they tend to conk out after 3-4 years for me with a lot of use in salt water. The reason for 3 stars is that the watch I received is not the one in the image: the face is larger and there is no FLIX function. Turns out I like the larger face and the FLIX function is not useful to me, but one should be aware.
the watch is pretty good overall have had it for just two years but the band is trash what good is a water resistant watch when if the band gets wet the velcro stop holding i dont dive 100′s of meters a day but i once in awhile forget to take it off before getting in the shower and i mean i almost always take it off when i shower and i have never put it completely under water but trust me dont get that band wet it will not work if you do i forgot to take it off while washing dishes and it hasn’t been the same sences now the band is no good the velcro does not hold and the watch constantly falls off my wrist 100 METERS MY YOU KNOW WHAT !!!!! DO NOT GET IT WET

Timex Men’s T5J641 Ironman Solar Power SHOCK Resin Strap Watch

May 10th, 2011

I just got this watch. If you are looking for a watch with a lot of features this really isn’t the watch for you. I liked it from the first time I tried it on. It was comfortable and simple to use. The thing I like about it the most is its easy read face, the comfort of the watch on my wrist, and the fact that it is solar powered! This is definitly a watch for people who just don’t want to replace batteries all the time and a watch that basically just tells time.
I’ve had this watch for a little over 2 years, but the “Indiglo” feature just died. So, now I can’t tell what time it is in the dark. I’ve had other Ironman watches w/ Indiglo, which lasted for 6 years (until the battery died). I figured since this watch was rechargeable, that I’d never have to change the battery and risk a leaky watch. I never figured that the Indiglo would die.
I bought this watch a few months ago. I never submerged it in water I only wore it in the shower. It started to collect water inside the lense. I contacted Timex and they sent me another one with no problem. I got the a brand new one 3 weeks ago and the same thing. It was shock resistant and kept the time great. If they could fix the water resistant watch it would be a great watch. I loved everything about it: fetures, weight, comfort, durability, and look. But if it’s allergic to water, then I have no use for it. Timex has good customer service and normally has great watches. I guess this is the exception to the rule. Really disapointing.
The old adage holds true: You get what you pay for. This Timex Ironman Solar/Shock watch, purchased through Amazon, came out of its original Timex factory box with a $100.00 price tag attached. Now, you won’t pay that much for it at Amazon, but even if you did, you wouldn’t be short changed. This watch is really a crafted, precision piece, and in both a visual and tactile sense it’s a pleasure Timex T5J641 to wear and use. I’ve own any number of Timex’s and Casios, and this one wins hands down and going away!

I won’t go into the watch’s features as they’re well described by Amazon except to note that the watch can be set in either the 12/24 hour format. Two other points are worth mentioning. First, don’t be put off by the 44 cm size of the watch, on the wrist it actually appears little different than a regular (40 cm) men’s Timex. This is because (even though in the photo it doesn’t appear that way) the pushers are built into the body of the watch, and don’t extend well out beyond the casing as they do on many Timex models. The second point I’d make, is that with the shock protection, the watch does sit higher (15 cm) on the wrist than most. It’s nothing drastic, and I actually like the look, but you might have to forego buttoning the cuff on a long sleeved shirt. All things considered, this is a great watch, and I’m most satisfied with my purchase!

Guess Women’s Watch U95141L1

May 10th, 2011

I’ve owned two of these Sleek watches. The first was the light blue. After a few months the blue around the face looked chipped and worn. The watchband started to crack in multiple places and looked really dirty. Finally the Indiglo light died, so I couldn’t tell the time in the dark. But I love the multiple alarms, the smaller face that fits better on female wrists and that all the buttons were located in places that made sense. I used the chronograph when doing sprints and the lap timer when doing, well, laps. So when the light blue watch lost the Indiglo light, I bought another one. This time in black so the watch band wouldn’t show the dirt. Again the paint around the face of the watch started to come off within the first few months. By the third month the buttons were sticking and became hard to push. But due the functionality, I just dealt with the buttons. I replaced the battery at about the year mark and within 3 months, the watch band was severely cracked. But again, I kept wearing it. Finally it just broke. I wish I could replace just the watchband, but due to the other issues, I’m going to look for another brand. Timex was so close on this one, just needed a better watchband and a better paint job.
The watch strap stays on somehow but by eight months all four buttons were exposed and I couldn’t get the plastic to stay around the buttons anymore. Finally the battery died at around eleven months and Guess U95141L1 I won’t be replacing it. The thing I don’t like is that you can’t replace the strap. I would like to keep a watch for years but with the design on this one once the strap breaks down that’s it.
I purchased this watch at Wal-Mart, and after a month or two the strap separated from the watch on the side of the buckle. It pulled away from the watch where the two upper buttons are located. The watch could be hooked back into the strap; but the strap remained loose and the upper part of the watch separated from it frequently. This continued for another month or so until today, when the watch popped completely out of the strap and was lost somewhere. This is a terrible design and I would never purchase another one.
I’ve had two of these watches. Both suffered the same problem: The alarm stopped working after a while. The plastic straps peel off easily from the watch body. That’s not a big deal–I can glue those on. But the alarm stopping is quite a drag. This is a cute watch for about a year, then it’s just downhill from there. I will not be buying another.

Freestyle Men’s FS81285 Shark Buzz 2.0 Custom Rectangle Digital Vibrating Alarm Watch

May 10th, 2011

I have had no issues with the watch I purchased. The watch is easy to set up, easy to read, and it looks great. I love the buzz feature because I have narcolepsy, so I can set an alarm at work without having any audible noise. My only complaint is having to reset the countdown timer after every use. That is minor and easy to do, so it really is not a very big deal. This is a great watch.
I’m really liking the fantastic appearance of this Shark Buzz by Freestyle. Its all-black look makes it the Darth Vader of my watch collection. It is billed as unisex, but I think its size and width of the band project a handsome masculine look. Freestyle FS81285 It’s got some heft that gives it a feeling of quality.

The digital diplay lays out pretty sizable numerals that are easy enough to see even on the black negative display. In any case, the backlight with a cool blue cast works well in low light situation.

The vibrating alarm is a cool feature. It definitely gets my attention – without getting anyone elses. It’s great to use in meetings or in a class without having everyone look over at you when your alarm goes off.

The modal line of of time and date, stopwatch, two alarms, two countdown timers are useful without haveing unuseable extra geeky digital features.

I think it’s a great peice, practical and sporty looking.
I was looking for a unique looking watch for a reasonable price and I got exactly that. Big clock numbers, nice blue back light, waterproof to 100m and the alarm vibration feature works really well. Very glad I found this watch
